I have just learned that wetcanvas.com, an artists' forum that I used to frequent and still visit occasionally, will be be closed by the end of the year. In it's heyday, it was a wealth of information for someone like me and it was the place to explore various types of art and also a place to just hang out, connect, and learn from other artists. It was a great community, but ever since it changed hands from the original owner's labour of love (which was what drew many artists there) to the current big name corporate owner, the site has become sadly neglected. And soon the forum as we know it will be gone. I'm now looking for a new "home" to belong to. I know deviantart is also an art site, but it doesn't really have much of a community spirit that I remember from long ago. I still remember the big gatherings that deviantArt had on their anniversary years ago where the staff went on tour from city to city. That was so amazing! Met a lot of Toronto artists that way. Happy New Year to all of you! It's been so long since I've been active here on DeviantArt.  Many of the folks I used to watch on DA have gone on to other things or have moved to other sites for sharing their art.  I'm not even sure if any of my old pals here on DA are still around.  If you are, give me a shout sometime.  I'd love to hear from my old friends again and would welcome making new friends, too. I just recently got a smartphone and now I'm trying to find some good (and free!) android apps to put in there. Can someone recommend some good ones?  It could be anything really and it doesn't have to be free (as long as it's really good and worth the price).  So far, I mostly just have games in there. I'd really love to see a good paint/draw app, but all I see are crappy paint programs that are geared towards kids.
